Long battery life, excellent fast reception, use on duel sport m/c and hiking, Best GPS I have.
I have used it about ten times and it has not let me down. I am new to geocaching and this GPS came highly recommended by a friend and experienced geocacher. I love it. It is easy to use and very accurate. I would recommend it to others.
Pros:-Incredibly accurate on open spaces.-International Maps are easy to find for free.-Compatible with Macintosh computers.-The screen is readable in sunlight.Cons:-Does not accept Geocahing descriptions. So, basically it only works in the snow, the deserts and specially well in the ocean. The touch screen is literally unreadable when you are outside.
No good tutorials anyhwere.-Hard to use even with a tutorial.-Lousy interface design, clearly not an Apple product.-Limited proximity alarm, 0.2 miles minimum, why.-Full of arbitrary limits on maps, tracks, waypoint, etc. Conclusion:To me the most important features are the accuracy, the battery life and the presence of a bright screen, my 60Csx performs very well in those areas. If you are going to use it in the city, forget it, the Garmin 60Csx is NOT what you want to use while driving around town, it will give you awful directions and you will simply get lost also you will very likely provoke a major car accident while trying to read the small screen, so, be a good boy and get a CAR GPS instead, they are cheaper anyway. Minimal info is shown.-Garmin Topo maps are way overpriced, over $100 each.-No satellite imagery available at all.-Extraodinarily long learning curve.
Don't be fooled by the slick interface.Should you buy a 60Csx. I also have a DeLorme PN-40, which has an even brighter screen and free maps but regretfully is not as accurate as the 60Csx. It is a small difference but if you are a geocacher, it matters.Warning: The newer Garming models (Oregon, etc) with the larger "touch screen" are useless, don't waste your money on those.
If you are going on a hiking trip, you should know a GPS only works if there aren't any trees in the vecinity, you need plain view of the sky. Do no use it in a forest, you may get lost.
This is a great GPS. When placing a cache, the averaging capability is astounding. Have had many comments on how accurate my co-ords are. Works much better than my Megellan.
I bought it because of it's antenna, it's excellent. For my job it works well.
